My miniature roses are blooming again, after no blossoms for two months!

 
Here is the current state of the garden:

• 11 tomato plants (including one heirloom)
• a fragile chocolate pepper plant
• 3 massive squash plants
• 1 very fruitful cucumber plant
• 1 basil bush
• 1 sprawling chocolate mint plant
• 2 sprawling cantaloupe plants
• struggling carrots
• miniature yellow roses
• lots of marigolds (big but yet to bloom)

Dead or Eaten:

1. eggplants
2. kohlrabi
3. peas
4. cauliflower
5. spinach 
6. lettuce
7. flowers (daisies, mixed bedding flowers)

Talking about one's garden progress is akin to talking about one's marathon experience or recent health problems.  The talker is dying to spill all the information, but the listener isn't close enough to the situation to be all that interested in the details. That's okay--friends humor each other, (and sometimes they even care too).
