Tonight I'm making one of my favorite summertime dishes--Beet and Goat Cheese Pasta Salad. We weren't sure we had enough big ones from the garden, so we bought one at the grocery store for backup. (This is my first time growing beets--our garden neighbors gave us starts. They actually grew, so I bought seeds and planted some for a fall harvest a couple weeks ago.)
When I took them out of the fridge, I was SHOCKED at the difference.
Guess which ones were picked a few days ago, and which were picked, um, probably like 10 months ago?
It's looks like a different vegetable!
