On Thanksgiving, R. and I spend the afternoon at the hot springs. These are five pools of naturally-occurring mineral springs about an hour from home that vary in temperature from comfortable to very hot. We probably soaked for about 2 hours. My sense of relaxation and well-being was very high afterward. I attribute this to the therapeutic effects of warm water, prolonged direct contact with the earth (electric grounding), and absorbing the high mineral content of the water (you can smell the sulfur).
I have been seeing the chiropractor again for about a month, and getting a weekly massage to fix some lower spinal pain. I am a big fan of both, but honestly, I think that hot springs was equally as effective. Here I am three days later, and still not a trace of stiffness or pain!
I should do this more often.
