About five years ago I went to a workshop about sprouting and making yogurt at my church. I've been toting sprouting supplies (seeds and cheesecloth/straining lids) around ever since. But, I
finally tried it this week because I was making a recipe that called for bean sprouts. I just bought about 3 tbsp of alfalfa seeds from a bulk bin, soaked them for about 4 hours, switching water halfway through, and then rinsed them twice a day after that. I was shocked how fast it happened! These things just keep growing at an amazing rate!
After 3 days, I had one packed-full cup of sprouts. I'd do this again for the sheer thrill of watching the process, but I'll take the nutrition benefits too.

I love that this project was equally entertaining and nutritious.
